SEXUALITY

Your sexuality goes to the core of who you are.  We express who we are through our sexuality.

Sexuality is not about who you have sex with, or how often you have it. Sexuality is about your sexual feelings, thoughts, attractions and behaviours towards other people. You can find other people physically, sexually or emotionally attractive, and all those things are a part of your sexuality.

Sexual orientation is usually divided into three categories: heterosexual, homosexual, and bisexual.

Some people struggle with their sexuality and can find it difficult to accept their own sexuality.  They then have the added pressure of their sexuality being un-acceptable to others.  Sex is something still not widely talked about and can include shame and guilt.

The struggle with sexuality comes around puberty which is a particularly tough time anyway.

In therapy, a person can look at their sexuality, how they feel about it, their fears around it and what it means to them.  They can go on the journey of knowing and accepting who they are.
